ROSS Jr., George (1730-1779) was a signer of the Continental Association and the United States Declaration of Independence as a representative of Pennsylvania. He was also the uncle of the man who married Betsy Griscom in 1773, giving her famous married name: Betsy Ross. In 1952, he, George Washington, and Robert Morris appeared on a three-cent stamp commemorating Betsy Ross. Document Signed "G. Ross" 1pp. folio, 1765, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, as attorney in a case between Richard Ellis and Adam Solomon, and reads in small part: '"...Adam Solomon of Lancaster County and Province of Pennsylvania a Negro that is free was summoned to answer Richard Ellis of a Plea that he rendered to him twenty-seven pounds lawful money of Pennsylvania which to him he owes & unjustly detains..." Fold separation reinforcements, else very good condition.
