An authentic and complete issue of the Niles’ Weekly Register, January 9, 1830, 24pp., disbound, VG. From the interior, “Domestic Slave Trade.” In part, “The schooner Lafayette, with a cargo of slaves from Norfolk, Virginia, for New Orleans, narrowly escaped being captured by them (ie: the slaves] on the voyage. They were subdued after considerable difficulty, and twenty-five of them were bolted down to the deck, until the arrival of the vessel at New Orleans.” 100 of the slaves were arrested for the revolt
