An authentic issue of Gentleman’s Magazine, September 1767, 52pp., disbound, 1” insect trail through a dozen back pages only adds character and does not affect reports mentioned. Full page engraving, “From a Drawing of Haeslen in 1701,” a Swiss couple from Haslen, standing in an archway with a stable door and vines growing over the top. He stands holding a small glass of wine looking towards the viewer, whilst his wife leans in looking at him tenderly, holding the bottle of wine (empty!). ... plus, a foldout engraving, “The Deer of the Cape of Good Hope,” with article. ...plus, under American News, Charles Town, South Carolina, we read of the horrific terror caused by the bandits. In part, “Different gangs of robbers and horsestealers have lately infested the forks of Saludy and Savannah rivers, and committed many robberies and cruelties...went to the house of one Wilson, burnt him with red hot irons to discover his money, and there robbed him of all he had ... From Denis Hayes they took amount 3000I, brutally and lustfully used his wife and daughter, stripped them, and left them naked. ...”
