Three documents from the 6th Wisconsin, part of the famous Iron Brigade. They each are directed to Rufus R. Dawes who was commissioned into "K" Co. WI 6th Infantry, 5/3/1861. Dawes reached the rank of Brig-General 3/13/1865 by Brevet. The documents include; Autograph letter, 1pp. written to Dawes regarding promotions, November 6, 1862, on State of Wisconsin, Executive Department letterhead. ... Ordinance Office War Department, Oct. 2, 1863, 1pp. advising Dawes that his return of 4th qrt 1861 is referred to Second Auditor.” ... plus, Ordinance Office War Department, Sept. 3, 1864, 1pp., advising errors in his return. All documents are near fine, 3pcs.
