Mischa Richter (1910 - March 23, 2001) was an American cartoonist best known for his numerous cartoons published in The New Yorker over decades. He also contributed cartoons to Collier's, The Saturday Evening Post and This Week. An original pen/ink cartoon signed by "Richter", 14-1/4" x 17-1/2", has Henry Ford driving his car with two passengers in the rear seat, Father Edward Coughlin (the radio Priest) and Bund in Nazi uniform. Ford is explaining the his view to a very concerned Uncle Sam wearing a police cap. Henry Ford bought a small newspaper Dearborn Independent through which he published attacked the Jews and supported Hitler. Charles Edward Coughlin (1891-1979) In 1934, he established a political organization called the National Union for Social Justice. Its platform called for monetary reforms, nationalization of major industries and railroads, and protection of labor rights. The Bund was to consist only of American citizens of German descent.[6] Its main goal was to promote a favorable view of Nazi Germany.
