STANTON, Henry (c 1796–1856) was a United States Army officer who was brevetted brigadier-general for meritorious conduct in the Mexican War (1846–1848). Autograph Letter Signed, “Henry Stanton, Mrg gen’l, US Army,” 2pp, Philadelphia, Oct 22, 1842, fine. In small part, “The War Department is desirious of introducing into our barracks service the Iron Bedstead now used by the British army; and I have been instructed to procure from England 10 as samples of the latest and most approved models ...”
