A complete and authentic tabloid newspaper, titled “PIPER His Crimes and His EXECUTION”, May 27, 1876, Boston, New England News Co., 8pp., uncut, minor edge tear, VG. This highly illustrated tabloid reports on the hanging of Thomas W. Piper the day following his execution by hanging. The front page displays a collage of four vignetted engravings from the final hours of his life including, “Taking leave of his relatives”; “Preparing for Death”; Reading the Death warrant”; Ascending the Gallows”. These surround the larger engraving showing Piper on the gallows as the cloth blind is placed over his head. The back page has 10 engravings showing his victims and his crimes. the interior pages provide very detailed accounts of the murders, the trials, and his hanging.
