c. 1810 Federal Period, Large Size Staffordshire "Silver Resist" Patriotic Design Pitcher, with Three Scarce Transfers, "Peace, Plenty and Independence" plus "Come Box the Compass" and "Industry Produceth Wealth", England, Choice Near Mint. Large impressive Silver Resist Pitcher was produced around 1810 in England for export to America. It measures about 8.25" tall x 9" wide at its top. There is a bit of expected wear from use to the back of the handle where is Silver is a bit worn. The decorative bright Silver bands, top of handle and rim decorations are bright and attractive. The left side has a large black transfer of an American Eagle, a Thirteen-Star American Flag, two female Allegorical Goddess figures, plus the names of Eight States within a scroll surrounding the Legend, "Peace, Plenty and Independence." The transfer design is similar to that listed and illustrated as P.10 found on page 146 of "Anglo-American Ceramics, Part I" by David Arman. There is an Agricultural transfer directly in front, below the spout with the legend, "Industry Produceth Wealth" and a "Come Box the Compass" transfer, Signed at center "T. Fletcher. Shelton" along with a small Sailing Ship at its center, on the right side being a bit light as made. Overall, the condition is excellent, fresh bright and clean with no apparent repairs whatsoever. Superb in eye appeal for display.
