A complete and authentic issue of the Federal Gazette & Baltimore Advertiser, July 20, 1796, 4pp., disbound, fine. From page 3 and running 2-1/2 columns "An Act laying duties on carriages for the conveyance of persons ...." enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives, May 28 , 1796, and signed in type "GO: Washington, President of the United States". Then on page 4, the president signs in type, Go. Washington, By the President", a patent for bolting cloths. Additionally there are nine Runaway Slave Reward ads including; " ... a Negro boy named Joe, about 13 .. has lost the toes off one of his feet ... two or three toes off the other foot ...Eight Dollar reward ... " Also, 200 Dollars Reward for Sam, Ned and Cato with detail descriptions of each. More ads.
