This unique piece was made for fans of Winfield Scott, a Mexican War hero and Whig candidate for President in 1852. It is a wood and paper folding fan depicting Scott in the center, surrounded by scenes of his famous battles in the war with Mexico. It measures 18" across when fully open. The portrait is titled "Gen. W. Scott" and the artifact was produced in France.
