From pg 2, a description of Washington’s Inauguration, in part, “The President .. on the day of his inauguration appeared dressed in a complete suit of homespun clothes, but the cloth was of a fine fabric and handsomely finished that it was mistaken for foreign manufactured cloth. ...”
