Autograph Document Signed, “Thomas Hunt,” Boston, Fine. This original Manuscript Document is dated 1743 at Boston, where Thomas Hunt has signed a receipt of payment from Obadiah Dickinson, for his payment to the Boston merchants, Jacob, John and Jacob (Jr.) Wendell, VG.Signed at lower right by Hunt. Document measures about 7” x 2.25” tipped with museum-quality edge mounting to a larger 7.5” x 10.75” sheet for display. Some light marginal age toning, else beautifully written boldly signed and in very nice condition. Endorsed on the blank reverse: “Jacob & Jno. Wendell - Reced in full June 1743”. Jacob Wendell was a wealthy merchant, and colonel of the Boston Regiment in 1745; afterwards a councillor, and a director in the first banking institution in the province. His son Oliver, also a leading Bostonian, was the Grandfather of Oliver Wendell Holmes, the only "autocrat" who has ever flourished in Boston. Rare.
