Engraving, measuring 9.75" x 6", n.d. [ca. 1882], Washington, D.C. A card printed on stiff board by the Bureau of Engraving entitled "Memorial Service of James Abram Garfield". Features a shoulder-up portrait depicting the former president within a border of stars and leaves, topped with an olive branch and sword. Caption at left reads "President/ March 14th 1881./ Died September 19th 1881/ Age 49 years" and at right, "Eulogy by/ Hon. James G. Blaine/ House of Representatives/ Feby 27th 1882". The overall card is encased in a black border of mourning, with printed signatures along bottom edge from John Sherman and William McKinley, Chairmen of the Senate and House Committees respectively.
