Official Printed Card Stock Ticket for the Memorial Services held to Honor Assassinated President James A Garfield, Signed "Geo.(rge) W. Hooker," Fine. The 1882 Card Stock Ticket for Entry to the United States House of Representatives for the Memorial Services held to honor Assassinated President James A Garfield, black mourning ruled and Signed by Congressional Medal of Honor recipient George W. Hooker (then Sergeant-At-Arms of the U.S. House of Representatives). This original Ticket measures 2.75" x 4.5", in full: "Officers and Employees - Admit Bearer". It is ink signed "Geo W. Hooker - Sergeant-at-Arms H. R." This card is mounted on a piece of heavy card stock, and includes an old typed label, "Ticket used by D. F. Murphy, one of the Official Stenographers of the United States Senate at the Memorial Exercises in Honor of President James A. Garfield in the Capitol on Feb. 27, 1882." This ticket is in excellent condition, sharp corners, no folds or tears. An unusual President Garfield item. Provenance, a label from an auction house, August 2007.
