ROMNEY, George (1907-1995) His leadership saved American Motor Company from the brink of collapse in the late 50's, died on July 26, 1995. It was Romney who made the difficult decision in 1957 to drop the Nash and Hudson brands -- two of the oldest marques in the business, and the company's legacy -- to concentrate exclusively on the compact Rambler line. It turned out to be a brilliant stroke: AMC's sales quadrupled in two years, and Rambler passed Plymouth to become the third best-selling make in the U.S. Signed Photo, “George Romney” 3-1/2”x5”, black and white. Fine.
