Single page, neatly penned 8 x 10 letter by book dealers or publishing house Helmish & Co. of N.Y. Aug. 2, 1845 to Leeser: “We take the liberty to propose a business connection between us. We carry a complete stock of the Israelite Publishing House of W. J. Busch of Vienna who, as you know, came to this country some time ago. In selling these books we find day after day that we need badly English editions of the Daily Prayers and the [indecipherable] in both rites. This is what we ask of you:…are you willing to give us a small stock on consignment ?...which discount will you give us ?...would you care to carry in return a stock of the Busch Pub. House on consignment ? If so we will send you a copy of the catalog…does such an exchange appeal to you…we are ready to send you a copy of the Talmud…on an exchange basis…please send at once by Adams Express one copy of the Daily Prayers for German and Polish rites…one copy of the Machsor for German and Polish rites…” Written in German language accompanied by a modern English translation.
