Exquisitely penned two page letter in the hand of and signed by Isabella H. Rosenbach (of Phila.)… “My dear friend…with emotions deeper then those of sincere regret have I heard of your serious illness and as your medical advisors have prohibited admittance of visitors I cannot refrain from giving expression to the feeling of sympathy I entertained for your sufferings…could I in any manner contribute to your comfort or provide and delicacy of which you are able to partake I beg of you to let me know…would consider it a favor to serve you. May the God of Israel in whose cause you have so long and nobly labored restore you once more…” On her personalized notepaper; light aging; exc. +. Although undated it is obviously circa 1867-1868. Isabella Rosenbach is mentioned in “Jews of Philadelphia” (Morais); was prominent in the writing of Jewish historical. Subjects presenting one of her papers to the American Jewish Historical Society as late as 1893 in N.Y.
