Regarding one of the major projects undertaken by the newly formed society and one that would not be completed until circa 1910-20. 4 page (8 ½ x 11) boldly titled in multi typeface: “TRANSLATION OF THE BIBLE TO BE PUBLISHED BY THE JEWISH PUBLICATION SOCIETY OF AMERICA…AMENDMENTS AND ADDITIONS TO INSTRUCTIONS TO THE TRANSLATORS.” Seal of society in center and names of editor and editorial committee. Page 3 bold titled: “RESOLUTIONS ADOPTED AT MEETING OF THE REVISORS OF THE BIBLE TRANSLATION HELD AT ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. JULY 16 AND 17, 1896”…where it was decided that a deviation from the customary rendering was to be made and the translators were to follow specified procedures including: “…wherever the Translator can devise a technical method by which the meaning can be presented more clearly to the eye of the reader…he shall embody it in his translation and…direct the attention of the Editorial Committee to it by some marginal remark…” and other changes. Pages 2 and 4 blank. Exc.; lightest normal aging. Long considered one of the most important projects undertaken by this famous society.
