Two page typed letter from NY City June 8, 1905 to Judge Sulzberger. On letterhead “Jewish Publication Society of America / Phila.” Regarding the major publishing work of the society then underway of the “Bible Translation” advising that the “Board of Editors” are concentrating their energy on the Pentateuch: “When I set about calling in the manuscripts I found that the Book of Genesis was in the hands of Prof. J. F. Spingarn of Columbia for style revision” with details on cross correspondence about that with Dr. Jastrow and Dr. Adler and negotiations ensuing. Seems to have been a breakdown along the way and she asks the judge “How ought this matter to be dealt with.” Exc. ACCOMPANIED BY A SECOND LETTER also with her very fine penned signature. Just three lines, typed; on printed letterhead of “J.P.S.” Advises Sulzberger she “…received a cable message from Miss Frank in which she tells me that Peretz gives her permission to translate his works…” Exc.
