Autograph Letter Signed by James B. Lundy, 7p. octavo, January 3, 1854, Peru, Constantinople, and reads in part: “…I was bitterly disappointed in not finding letters from you here but I trust they are at the Crimea in Mr. Filder’s bag. My last (6) was from Malta, …spent…the evening fratranizing with French officers in one of the Military cafes. The city was full of them and fine fellows they are. My French is coming back fast….went to St. Paul’s Church and thought of you…ran into the harbour of ‘Segri’ on the west side of Miylene, we landed and oh! the filth & horrors of [?] Greek small town. We drank a couple of cup each the size of a thimble of coffee and smoked a long pipe in a dirty café, swarming with fleas…” More . Fine.
