LE GRAND, Alexander (1794-1839) first made his appearance in New Mexico as captain of the Becknell-Storrs-Marmaduke from Missiouri to Santa Fe, trapped druing the winter of 1824-25, and in 1826 received contract to survey an Empresairo Grant Stephen Wilson (sold half to Richard Exter) received from the State of Coahuila and Texas and finished the survey of 48,000,000 acres in 1827. Volunteer aide-de-camp to General Thomas Rusk, named by Burnet Indian Commissioner to treat with the Comanches and Kiowas. Partly-printed Document Signed, “A. Le Grand” 1p., 6-1/2”x3-1/2”, October 28, 1837, Houston, Republic of Texas, being a Republic of Texas treasury warrant for military services. Cancellation with paper loss, else Good.
