Very rare A.L.S. "Ever yrs, Keogh" on his monogrammed letterhead, 4pp. 8vo., Knoxville, Dec. 24, 1865 to his brother Tom. Keogh opens his letter discussing the quality ofa photograph of his brother, and sends a photo of a staff member of Gen. John Buford, under whom Keogh had served. He continues: " ... things are so uncertain here that any of us are liable to be thrown out...Kelly has been mustered out of the service some months ago ... I hope to settle my affairs by April. .. [and] get leave of absence if Gen. Stoneman does not come ... This is a great country my boy for a man of intellect, energy and capitaL .. " With much additional intimate family content mentioning his sister Lizzie and others. Crosswritten making legibility a bit difficult, light toning at some folds with one fold affecting one letter in signature, else very good.
