Manuscript Document Signed, “Will Donlin & Co. LEE”, 1p. oblong octavo, Fort Stanton, New Mexico, October 17, 1878, and reads “Recd of Trinidad Vigil Sixteen 00/100 dolls in settlement of one plow. Charged to Geo. Kimball for Vincente Romero.” VG.George Kimball is most likely George Kimbrell who replaced Sheriff Peppin in 1879. He arrested Billy the Kid after ‘the Kid’ sent a letter to Governor Wallace detailing his plan to allow himself to be arrested by Kimbrell. Trinidad Vigil served on the Grand Jury of Lincoln County in 1879 turning in over 200 indictments. Vincente Romero was a gunfighter who rode with Billy the Kid and was killed in the same battle as Alexander McSween.
