Autograph Document Signed, “W.G. Angus” 2p. quarto, October 6, 1892, Johnson Co., Wyoming, being a subpoena signed by Angus as sheriff. Fine. Sheriff W.G. ‘Red’ Angus first appeared in Buffalo, Wyoming, in 1880 and was a bartender, pimp, and gambler and was known as Mayor of the red light district. Sheriff of Johnson County, 1889-1893, during the Johnson County wars and took teh side of the small ranchers but was lax in his investigation of Frank Canton and the murder of John Tisdale & led the siege of the ‘Wyoming Stock Growers Assoc.’ force of hired gunmen.
