In part, "Trial of your Negro named Peter will be at the Courthouse in Elizabeth City on Saturday the 22d of this month, by a Jury agreeable to Act of Assembly. You will therefore attend the trial of said negro if you think proper to do so ... " Boldly penned and signed by Sheriff Robert McMorine.
