The final printed copy .of a bill passed by the Virginia Legislature, "IN THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES, Saturday, December 12,1795," copies of which would likely be sent on to the Virginia delegation in both houses of the Federal Congress instructing their Senators and requesting their Representatives "... to obtain in their respective Houses, the following amendments to the constitution ... " They proposed four amendments. The first deals with the ratification of US treaties. The second proposes, changes to the tribunal for impeachment trials. The third proposed change Senators' terms limited to three years. And the final recommends Federal judges shall not hold any other office simultaneously. Manuscript signature approvals by John Stewart, the clerk of the House of Delegates and H. Brooke, Senate. Fine condition. Though the imprint does not indicate what prompted these amendments, they were not passed.
