Broadside, "GLORIOUS NEWS. ANOTHER MANASSAS VICTORY!!, 1p. 3-1/4"x6-1/4" distributed by the "Rockingham Register", from Harrisonburg, September 2, 1862, and reads "The following glorious intelligence came over our newly established 'Lighting Line' to Harrisonburg, at 9 o'clock last night. We are indebted for it to our excellent friend, Mr. O.P. Taylor, the operator at this place: STAUNTON, September 1. Gen. Lee has whipped Pope and McClellan combined! We have taken a great many prisoners. Loss heavy on both sides. This was the fight of Saturday. The enemy are in full retreat towards Alexandria, and our Army in pursuit. There is no reason for doubting this. Gen. Ewell is not seriously wounded. Gen. Jackson is wounded in the arm - only slight - not enough to take him from his duties. The battle was in the same place - Manassas - that it was on the ever memorable 21st of July, and the enemy had the same position he had then..." VG.
