Historic broadside, "Defence of the City of Philadelphia, 24"x37-3/4" June 16, 1863, printed by King & Baird of Philadelphia, with fine illustration at center, bears statement of Alexander Henry, Mayor Philadelphia who requires Brigadier General Pleasonton, Commander of the Home Guard, to order out his units, and military orders by General Pleasonton who states "Under the authority of an Act of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, entitled 'An Act relating to the Home Guard of the City of Philadelphia,'...the undersigned assumes the duties 'For the Preservation of the Public Peace and the Defence of the City.'..." Small loss at fold intersections, else Near Fine.
