(1874-1965) British Prime Minister considered not only one of the greatest statement of the modern age, but a brilliant orator, wordsmith, historian... a true renaissance genius who knew how to play at politics better than most. A courageous figure whose strength of character saved her nation in her darkest days. Typed Letter Signed, "Winston Churchill" 1p. quarto, on his stationary, July 6, 1955, addressed to James Johnson, and reads in part: "...I should be most happy to attend a Meeting of the Courts of Brotherhood and Guestling in the early part of September...I expect to be going abroad later in the month. It will indeed give me pleasure to visit Hastings for this occasion...." Two file holes, else VG.
