bold heading on all three special printed (and ink completed) forms for this unique British youth movement founded in 1895 as the Jewish equivalent to the Protestant Boys Brigade (later becoming Baden-Powell's "Boy Scout" movement). (1) Form for "Equipment Receipt & Undertaking" circa 1898 signed by member "B. ISAACS." Acknowledges receiving special equipment (waist-belt, haversack, cap badge) agreeing to return when leaving or discharged or pay a fine. 5 x 5; blank reverse. (2) Special printed acknowledgement and the full oath administered upon signing the original enlistment form, circa 1898; includes name of founder and "Commandant Col. A. E. Goldsmid" in heading; also noted that it is "given the recruit when equipment issued." (3) Larger 5 x 9 "DISCHARGE CERTIFICATE" issued to "Private B. Isaacs" of the Liverpool Company Northern Battalion, April 2, 1898 then age 15…was discharged for "…being unable to attend parade [and also noted that his conduct while in the company was] exemplary / punctual, smart, truthful and would have been promoted if he had remained." All three forms show age, wear and use from being carried in wallet; with finger marks and some brown spotting, but all clear and complete. By 1901 the brigade had almost 4,000 members; a few members even took part in the war in South Africa, including Col. Goldsmid. Accompanied with two historical sketches of the "Brigade."………
