Lengthy 6 page neatly penned letter (8 x 10) addressed: "To the Editor of the Occident." Although undated, is decidedly circa 1850's; unsigned. He writes: "…I seek through your newspaper to lay before the Jewish Public a series of communications…I feel myself called by a Superior power to make known what has been revealed [to me]… a matter with special reference to people of Israel…[feel] I am charged with a special accountability to declare it!" In a manner that at times is fascinating and in others quite pedantic he writes that he "…has taken time to consider my duty and mature of my conclusions…perceive it imperative to lay before the world…in an unpretending way the views and conclusions which I rationally derived from them." Describes how he brought a formal notice of a "Beth Din or Jewish Synod" to public notice in a New York newspaper earlier about his "remarkable intuitions about the future." Prevails on Leeser: "…you have no reason to distrust me [and hopes Leeser will] believe me to be one, who by my rare spiritual impressions is seriously inclined to be a servant of Israel" hoping Leeser will publish his articles in order that he can "…convince mankind there can be no appeal…and no legitimate argument but to acknowledge the truth…" and much more in that same literate, yet illusory manner by this self-styled prophet! All clear and readable; showing its age, sections a bit dusty (but not obscured) where folded and few small tears or slight tatters on outer edge.
