All five entirely different print styles and designs (approx. 3 ½ x 9; will vary slightly in size). During height of the gold and silver strikes in Montana, a state which Jews were numbered among the first to settle; Hershfield brothers were one of very first banks in Montana. Two of the checks signed by Hershfield himself, another signed by Sol Rosenfelt (accompanied with photostat of interesting brief history of Jews of Montana and mention of Hershfield Brothers Bank)…PLUS A CHECK bold printed "L. M. JACOBS & CO., BANKERS…TUCSON, ARIZONA TERRITORY" Sept. 6, 1879 (signed by L. M. Jacobs)…PLUS A FANCY, BOLDLY PRINTED CHECK from one the most famous towns in the American West "COCHISE COUNTY BANK…TOMBSTONE, ARIZONA TERRITORY" August 5, 1886. (in 1881 the most Western notable gunfight "the shoot-out at the O. K. Corral" between Wyatt Earp and the Clanton brothers took place in Tombstone) made payable to "MEYBERG & ROTHSCHILD BROS." …AND ALSO two fancy printed checks (each different style) "WELLS FARGO & COMPANY SAN FRANCISCO" 1868 and 1874 dated. One payable to J. Seligman & Co. (believe of Oregon); other payable to "ISAAC SACHS" also Oregon. All exc. plus condition. Make great Western American Judaica display.
