"SIMON HASSLER (1832-1901)" original studio photographic portrait on photographers cabinet card. 4 x 6 ½ printed label of "Todd & Co. / Photography / Phila." Original bold, penned jocular inscription: "Merry Christmas to Mrs. S. Behrens with best wishes of the original!" Although not signed, it's obvious it was S. Behrens inscription (also Jewish) was both a musician and a conductor (and is mentioned with listing in 1891 edition of "The Jews of Phila" (by Norais). Normal sepia toning, image clear and sharp. Bottom of the card (blank section) had been cracked and with a small tape repair on the reverse to keep it together. (With bio sketch of Hassler from Jewish Encyclopedia)……………
