Very rare slip decorated Shenandoah Valley dirt dish, from an original Valley family collection. Slip decoration consists of two squiggle lines around rim, and another feint splash decoration in bottom. Utilitarian use has added wear to inside of this pie plate, though no chips, cracks or faults. c. 1840. With rolled rim and extended foot, attributing this item to the Valley.
