Incredible handwritten copy of a slaver agreement, 2p. quarto, and reads “This agreement made and entered into by Thomas de Juara y Soler on the one part and Ezekiel Green on the other part viz. That E. Gree agrees to go to the coast of Africa as super-cargo of the schooner Flor de la Mar and purchase a cargo slaves and return direct back to this place. And the said Thomas de Juara y Soler agrees to pay the said E. Green One Hundred Dollars pr. month and Ten percent on teh Gross sales of the cargo of slaves of said Schr. Flor de la Mar and that he commission be paid at the close of the sales. It is further agreed that if said Green should die before the cargo is all purchased on the coast that his heirs shall be entitled to one half of the above commission and if he should die after said cargo is fully bought and before the voyage is fully completeed that his heirs shall be entitled to the hwole of said commissions the same as if he had lived and performed the voyage - signed and sealed in duplicate Havana, this 10 day of July 1818... “ with integral letter from Havana, July 11, 1818, “signed E. Green” addresssed to Messr. F.M. Arredondo & Son, and reads “If any misfortune should happen to me on my present voyage that I do not return in the Schooner Flor de la Mar and said Schooner should arrive you will please to do with the annexed agreement as you may think proper and if nay thing is recoverd in my acct please to remit the same to Jacob Babitt & Co. Bristol R.I. and advise them to pay it to my lawful heirs and you will much oblige yr most obd. servt...” Fine.
