Partly-printed Document Signed, 1p. 6”x2”, 1863, Wythe County, Virginia, and reass “Treasure of the funds appropraited by the County Court for the benefit of Soldier’s families, pay to Eliz. M. Rose or order Twenty Dollars...for the family of Wm. H. Rose a soldier in the 51st Virginia Regiment...” VG. William H. Rose was wounded at Sneaker’s Gap on July 18, 1864. The 51st Virginia Infantry was formed in August 1861 in Wythe County, Virginia and was reorganized in 1862 to serve until March, 1865. It served in Virginia as well as the Knoxville Campaign.
