Partly-printed Document Signed, 1p. oblong octavo, October 24, 1864, Meridian, Mississippi, being a “Medical Certificate” issued by the Hospital Examining Board, and reads in part: “…Priv. Milton Gordy Company G 27 Miss Regiment, Walthall Brigade, Army of Tenn….is unfit for military duty in consequence of …wound of left hand causing amputation of the arm from the effects of which he has suffered 8 months…” Signed by three members of the Examining Board. Good.Milton Gordy served with the 1st Mississippi State Troops and the 27th Mississippi Infantry. The 27th Mississippi Infy. served in Florida and Kentucky while with the Army of Tennessee. It took an active part in the campaigns of the army from Murfreesboro to Atlanta, moved with Hood into Tennessee, and fought in North Carolina.
