Gen., commanded Lane’s Bde/Hill’s Divn at Chancellorsville, commanded 2nd Bde/Pender’s Divn at Gettysburg, Cold Harbor (w), Wilderness, Spotsylvania, commanded Lane’s Bde/Wilcox’s Divn at Petersburg, Appomattox. Document Signed twice, “James H. Lane, Brig. Gen’l,” on Appomattox Court Huse, Va., paroled prisoner’s pass, April 10th, 1865, issued for Maj(or) J(ackson) L(afayette) Bost, "D" Co. NC 37th Infantry. The reverse is also signed by Lane, “To include one private horse, James H. Lane, Brig. Gen’l.”
