BUCKNER, Simon Bolivar (1823-1914) Confederate major general who led his division at Perryville, Knoxville, and in an abortive support of forces in the Trans- Mississippi. ADAMS, George Madison, (1837 - 1920) during the Civil War raised a company of volunteers and was captain of Company H, Seventh Regiment, Kentucky Volunteer Infantry, from 1861 to 1863; in 1864 was commissioned paymaster with the rank of major; elected as a Democrat to the Fortieth and to the three succeeding Congresses (March 4, 1867-March 3, 1875). Partly-printed Document Signed "S.B. Buckner" as Governor of Kentucky, and “Geo. M. Adams” as Secretary of State, 1p. folio, April 12, 1888, being an appointment for Judge W.R. Carson. With large state seal. Also signed by WILLIS L. RINGO, who served with the 2nd Kentucky and was WIA at Dallas, Georgia. Paper loss at upper right margin, else VG.
