War-date Autograph Letter Signed, “R.W. Mitchell Leboueuf Guards, Camp Wilkins, Pittsburg,” 1p. quarto, May 2, 1861, Pittsburgh, and reads “We arrived here safely except one man of the Guards who fell off the cars and we supposed was killed. The wildest enthusasim prevailed along our route. Our encampment is a very pleasant place situated east of the main part of the city, it is their fair ground. We lodge in tents here, plenty of provisions and all enjoying themselves as well as men need to. There is a rumor that Pittsburg is to be attacked by a force up the river they ‘our Union men’ are planting cannon on the mountains near by so as to command the river. Our next movement is not known....” Fine.
