Autograph Letter Signed “J.S. Weiser” 130th Pennsylvania Infantry, 3p. octavo, Kettersville, Maryland, September 18, 1862, and reads in most part: “...I passed through the hardest fought battle that has been fought since the opening of this Rebellion unharmed and without a scar although I took eighty three rounds on teh field with me it being not enough to last until the Rebs skedaddled. I took twenty eight rounds out of a dead mans cartridge box out of all I brougth three with me to this place I would have fired them but I got over into a cornfield and had the pleasure of taking a Rebel second Lieut. and two privates. The Lieut seen me leveling my gun on him he then threw away his sword in order to get me to go after it so that he could escape but I took him and let the sword lay. We went some ten yards from that spot and I seen the private without arms. I brought them to the rear of our line and then handed the two privates to another man and brought the lieut to this town and turned him into a squad that was starting under a guard to Boonsboro...We were under fire for five hours, there is a few wounded out of our company, Tom Martin is safe not having a scar (this to yourself there is seventeen wounded three mortally). We are thrown in the rear now and do not expect to have to fight again as this will be ended in a very short time now...” VG.
