Federal Document Signed, "A.P. Fiske" 1p. quarto, on "Head Quarters, U.S. Troops, New York City and Harbor" lettersheet, September 23, 1863, being Colonel Loomis' issuance of Special Orders No. 65 "By order of Brigadier General Canby", and reads "In compliance with orders from the War Department, the sixty four prisoners of war, now on Governors Island, who have taken the oath of allegiance to the United States, will be discharged their descriptive roll will be transmitted to these Head Quarters without dealy. The other enlisted prisoners of war will be sent to Point Lookout, Md, instead of to Fort Delaware, as ordered…" Fine.Alexander P. Fiske, served in the 57th New York Infantry, he was brevetted for gallantry at the battle of Fair Oaks, Virginia, and ended the war with rank of brevet lieutenant colonel, serving 1861-65.
