A great war-date Northern home front Emancipation Proclamation letter written by a certain E. G. Ferris, 1p. 8vo., Polo, [Ill.], Jan. 7, 1863 with stamped cover bearing a one cent Franklin stamp addressed to Rev. Greyer, it part: "A meeting of the citizens of Polos vicinity to commemorate the Great National Event the Proclamation of the President of the United States giving freedom to all the Slaves in the those States & parts of States now in rebellion against the constitution & the government - will be held at the Independent Presbyterian Church tomorrow morning. You are invited to be present & assist in the ceremonies. Hon. J. V. Eustace & Prof. D.J. Pinckney are expected to address the meeting…". Fine.
