Manuscript Document Signed, "W.W. Wardell" Lieut & Actg. Adjt. 1st Mass Cavalry (KIA at Hawe's Shop, Va. 5/28/64) and "Geo. M. Fillebrown" 1st Lieut. 1st Mass. Cavalry, Comdg. Co. F, (WIA at Aldie, Va) 1p. folio, March 14, 1864, being a report of losses at Bristow Station, with the following explanation: "...The Army was falling back (during General Meade's retreat) towards Centreville. My company was engaged (skirmishing) with the enemy until after dark. Two men of my company (each of them a lead horse) with the above articles of ordnance and ordnance stores were missing and are supposed to have been captured by the enemy. I have never received any official notice but have heard from men that have been exchanged that they are prisoners in Richmond..." Fine.
