Autograph Letter Signed, 1p. quarto, on rare “Head-Quarters, District of Minnesota, Department of the Northwest. Saint Paul, Minn.,” lettersheet, June 17, 1864, addressed to Major John Clowney Commanding Detachment In camp near Ft. Snelling.” and reads “Genl. Sibley desires that Lieut. Hubbard A.A. Qr. Mr. of your detachment, shall remain at Ft. Military forces extinguished the rebellion and eventually hanged 38 Dakotas who were judged guilty of the atrocities. The remaining Dakota were exiled to bleak reservations in the Dakota Territory.
