Harmon of the 12th North Carolina Infantry, 1p. quarto, November 8, 1864, New Berne, North Carolina, Head-Quarters, District of North Carolina, addressed to the Commanding Officer of the 132d New York Vols, with unusual content "The Comdg. Genl. directs me to say that he understands a man named Wyse, was wounded some time since on your lines, and is now in hospital. The General directs you to see that this man does not escape. Do not let the man know this, and when he is recovered please send to these Hd. Qrs. under guard..." Docketed on verso and bears a rare “Rec’d. Hd. Qrs. Sub.-Dist. New Berne. Nov 9, 1864” stamp. VG.
