SLOCUM, Henry (1827-1894) Union major general who commanded the Union right at Gettysburg and fought with Sherman in Georgia and the Carolinas. A good post-war A. L. S. "H. W. Slocum", 1p. 8vo., Brooklyn, N. Y., Oct. 22, [n. y.], to an unidentified general, reading, in part: "I fully intended to have been present at your installation, but I had a very severe cold for two weeks…[and] I did not feel able to go out on the 18th…". Very good.
