PHINEAS T. BARNUM (1810-1891) greatest American showman and circus promoter. A free pass to Barnum's Circus on the editor of "The Bridgeport [Connecticut] Daily Standard" calling card, bearing an A.D.S. ca. 1880, by Barnum, signed twice. In full: "Pass Mr. Candee & friends. P. T. Barnum" and beneath "Paid for all…P.T. Barnum". Early 1900 provenance on verso reads, in part: "This was Father's pass…for all time of the P. T. Barnum & Bailey circus winter home."…PLUS: an 1892 letter of condolence to Mrs. Candee after her husband's death. Slight smearing to ink in a couple of spots, otherwise very good.
