Rare partly-printed "Journal of a Voyage from Boston, Mass U.S.A. to the East Indies in the Ship Barnstable of Boston commanded by Capt. John Henry Begun Friday Jan 7th 1841...Kept by Samuel A. Brimblecom" over 100p. folio, records all nautical information, " A List of the Officers and crew of the Barnstable" and additional remarks on events of the day, includes: "…I had the second 'Anchor watch' on Monday night and had just gone below, and had not 'turned in' when a man came to the scuttle and sung out 'All hands ahoy, bear a hand up to make sail' and by one o'clock on Tuesday morn. we were underway for our long cruise…Changed colors with a English ship…Took my first regular trick at the wheel while there saw 2 Albatross the first I have ever seen…Thought of Genl. Harrison's inauguration…Employed in stocking anchors and putting them on the rails or over the bows…Changed colors with a Dutch Barque…" followed by "Journal kept on board Brig Antelope of Boston, Capt. Dumaresq" housed in the same journal during the year 1843. VG.
