Partly-printed Document Signed, “David Page” & “William Luce”, 1p. folio, with fine seals and profiles, along boarders, February 13, 1866, and reads “United American Mechanics To All Whom It May Concern This is to Certify that Bro. W.E. Riffle whose name is written on the margin of this card in his own proper handwriting is a member in good standing of Fayette Council No. 8 held at Perryopolis and working under a Charter duly granted by authority of the STATE COUNCIL of Penna....” VG.The OUAM was a group, formed in part, by Freemasons in 1845. They organized in Philadelphia with the intention of opposing immigrant influx into the United States as well as to serve as a ‘patriotic, social, fraternal, and benevolent order, composed of native white male citizens, who would purchase goods only from white businessmen, help native Americans find employment, protect the public school systems, aid widows and orphans of deceased members, and defend its members from harmful economic competition by immigrants.’
